We finish our review of Nothing’s Shocking by Jane’s Addiction. What will be the final ruling on this Alternative Album released at the height of Hair Metal? What does the band Tesla have to do with this album?

Nothing’s Shocking is the major label debut and follow-up to Jane’s Addiction (their self-titled independent release). Released in 1988, Because of lack of airplay on MTV and modern rock radio, the album only sold 200,000 to 250,000 copies in its first year of release. “Mountain Song” was released as a single; MTV refused to air the song’s music video because of a scene containing full frontal nudity.

Jane Says” was released as a promotional single in 1988, becoming the band’s first chart entry on the Alternative Songs chart, peaking at #6.

By 1998, it had been certified platinum by the RIAA for shipments of one million copies in the United States.
